Dear Friends,
Welcome to Anbusivam’s Blog Page.
My thoughts in this post was lying in the draft for quite a long time. With recent developments of corruption and nepotism bringing down the political class of our country to the least respected level, I thought of publishing this now.

For years together money and power thirsty politicians has pursued short sighted vote bank economic policies that have literally degraded the lives of common man in this country. In today’s globalised economy, government focuses most of it’s policies mainly towards the economically upper class industrialists and businessmen. Reason being they are few in number with direct access and ability to influence the government agencies, bureaucrats and politicians, where as common man to whom these politicians come begging for votes once in a while are busy toiling there to meet their ends. Unfortunately these same corrupt babus are authorised to decide everything for this nation and sadly all is done purely with their own personal interest at the highest priority. The irony is they themselves could decide upon their own salary and perks, they themselves could decide upon their judicial proceedings, they could decide upon the bureaucrats they want to work with and so on that none of us could do.
One young student when asked to define democracy said,
“Democracy atleast in India is, of the politicians by the politicians and for the politicians.
This is the kind of respect and dignity that the political class has got among the younger generation of this country. Clearly we could see in the television debates these days that, not even a single politician is demonstrating the courage enough to answer the allegations directly. Every one is pointing fingers at the others saying “even they have done corruption”, but where is the answer for what you and your members have done….? Nothing, No Answer…!!!
I think as a country we have labeled politics as service to the society. During the days of independence people entering into politics were considered to be sacrificing their personal and family priorities for the sake of National priorities. Now even after so many decades of independence our politicians still think that they are doing a great service to the people and the society, while actually doing all possible things to keep their personal priorities on the top. I believe that this irony of thought and action should be fundamentally changed among the politicians.
We human beings are filled with thoughts of irony and actions of hypocrisy. We first do the worst things that will literally rape this mother earth, over use, misuse, abuse her resources and then hold conferences and meetings to save earth. We first create situations that will lead to violence, fight, war and then we strive to achieve peace. In the same way, we first blindly vote to elect these corrupt politicians to power and try to set them right later on when things go out of hand. And this hypocrisy among the people of this nation should be fundamentally changed.
Here is my ten point agenda to clean up the dirty politics in this country:
1. First and foremost let’s have a bare and naked transparency in every part of our political system. Political parties must disclose the reasons based on which they are selecting the candidates for elections. Their educational qualifications, political and leadership experience, zero criminal records, their asset and property details (this should be disclosed to public both at the start and end of their terms) should be clearly available to the voters.
2. Make sure that the government spends each and every penny involved in the election process. Let the government allocate funds to every candidate and make sure nothing more is spent towards campaigning and so on during the election. Allowing political parties to spend money as much as they want is the very basic need for them to get that back, earn more and more for the forthcoming elections in all illegal ways and means.
3. Make sure that the elected representatives are considered as executives of a company, who is accountable, must perform and deliver the promises every time on time. Make sure they stop talking, but fold up their sleeves and get into action.
4. If an elected representative is accused of misusing power, he or she must have the moral responsibility to step down from the power/office and prove his/her innocence to the law of this land. If they prove to be innocent, the ones who raised the false accusations should be punished accordingly.
5. If any elected representative is proved to be guilty then they should be severely punished in an exemplary manner and must be banned from entering into politics for their entire life time.
6. Bring in a Zero Tolerance policy towards the corruption and nepotism not only in politics, bureaucracy and business but at all levels in this country.
7. Politics and business should be totally isolated from each other and make sure that the politicians occupying offices and policy makers should no way posses any other commercial or business interests.
8. Ensure that the national interest and common man’s welfare is kept at the utmost priority for every decisions taken and every action done by the people in power.
9. Kin and kith of the politicians should no way be allowed to take over their political parties unless they deserve that purely out of their own hard work and sincere efforts from the lower levels of the party.
10. Last but not least, make voting a compulsory exercise in this country. Make it a compulsory process and allow the people to choose any one candidate or reject all of them. Make use of the technology to maintain a very clean and transparent list of voters database. We the people of this great nation should remember the words of Plato “the punishment suffered by the wise who refuse to take part in the government, is to suffer under the government of bad men”
Let’s all come together to clean up the rotten political system in this country and make our nation a great place to live atleast for the generations to come.
SAVE INDIA…!!!
